Fishing
Our boat fishing trips offer an exciting activity that’s suitable for everyone. We offer individual bookings or private charter trips. From family days, corporate team building and educational trips to birthday treats, hen and stag parties – fishing is a fantastic way to get out on the water, have fun and learn more about the local marine environment.
After your day’s fishing, why not book our optional extra ‘Cook Your Catch’ and relax whilst your catch is prepared and cooked for you at The Boathouse Cafe, situated on the quayside.
Your Trip
The main target species is mackerel, however, we catch lots of different species throughout the year. After hopefully catching some mackerel, we make for one of the reefs or wrecks in the area, where we hope to catch other species, such as herring, whiting, gurnard, cod, dog fish, even pollock, pouting, ling and the infamous conger eel (weather permitting).
All equipment and safety gear is provided on board so you don’t need to bring a thing, simply dress for the weather!

More Information
Plymouth is one of the best fishing ports in the UK, if not in Europe. We’re lucky to have the deep waters of the English Channel only a 35 minute sailing from our doorstep. Departing from Plymouth’s famous Barbican we proceed across the historic Plymouth Sound, flanked by the beautiful Devon & Cornish coasts. On passing the spectacular breakwater we make for the plankton-rich deep waters where the mackerel & bigger species await!
Conservation is at the core of our philosophy – we only harvest enough fish to satisfy your needs, the rest are released to fight another day.
All of our trips offer the opportunity to see some of our wonderfully diverse local wildlife. We’ve seen seabirds, sunfish, minky whales, basking sharks, dolphins and leatherback turtles!
Although all our trips are weather dependent, it is very rare that a fishing trip is cancelled. If the weather is poor there are plenty great fishing spots in the shelter of Plymouth Sound.
We are happy to offer longer private hire trips up to a maximum of 6 hours. We don’t operate trips for less than 3 hours due to travelling time to the fishing grounds.
